| Combating Shame |
| 06.16.06 (8:07 am) [edit] |

Shame can hold us back, hold us down, and keep us staring at our feet.
Watch out for shame.
Many systems and people reek of shame.
They are controlled by shame and may want us to play their game with them.
They may be hoping to hook us and control us through their shame.
We do not have to fall into their shame.
Instead, we need to embrace the good feelings that come from
self-acceptance, love, and nurturing.
Did you know?
Compulsive behaviors, sexually addictive behaviors, overeating, chemical abuse, and addictive gambling are shame-based behaviors.
If we participate in them, we will feel ashamed, the more ashamed you feel the more you will participate. It's inevitable.
We need to watch out for addictive and other compulsive behaviors because those will immerse us in shame and create a viscous cycle.
Our past, and the brainwashing we may have had that imposed "original shame" upon us, may try to put shame on us.
This can happen when we are all alone, walking through the grocery store or just quietly going about living our life.
You hear these thoughts in your head:
I can not think think. . . .
I can not feel. . . .
I can not grow. . . .
I can not change. . . .
I can not do it. . . .
I can not live me life. . . .
I am a failure. . . .
I am nothing. . . .
These are all thoughts that can cause us to do things that makes us feel ashamed.
Be done with shame. Attack shame. Go to war with it.
Learn to recognize it and avoid it like the plague.
Today, I will deliberately refuse to get caught up in the shame floating
around in the world.
If I cannot resist it, I will feel it, accept it, and then be done with it as quickly as possible.
Today's Prayer:
Father God,
Help me know that it is okay to love myself and help me to refuse to submit to shame.
Father, If I get off course, help me learn to change this shame by admitting that I have a problem.
Give me the strength and guidance to correct this behavior, and move forward with my life.
Father God, help me to see that I am worth more than anything in the world and that you have a plan for me.
Father God, help me use the gifts you have given me wisely and for the sake of others.
In Jesus' Mighty Name I Pray. . . .
Amen. . . .Amen. . . .Amen
God Bless,
Christina
